Authors

Allison Sidle Fuligni

Allison is Professor of Child and Family Studies at California State University, Los Angeles, and teaches development every semester. She has spent much of her research career focused on understanding and improving the environments where young children develop, at the Columbia University National Center for Children and Families, the UCLA Center for Improving Child Care Quality, and at California State University, Los Angeles. She was involved with several longitudinal studies of children’s development, including the Los Angeles Exploring Children’s Early Learning Settings and the National Early Head Start Research and Evaluation Project. Allison received her PhD from the University of Michigan.


Andrew J. Fuligni

Andrew is a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and Psychology at University of California, Los Angeles, where he teaches courses on child and adolescent development. He also directs the Adolescent Development Lab at UCLA and is Co-Executive Director of the UCLA Center for the Developing Adolescent, which is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of young people through the translation and dissemination of developmental science. He has published extensively on the sociocultural experience and biobehavioral development during adolescence and young adulthood, with a focus on young people from Latin American, Asian, European, and immigrant backgrounds. Andrew has received numerous awards for his teaching and research and is a former associate editor of the journal Child Development. Like Allison, he received his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan.


Jessica Bayne

Jessica Bayne is a writer, editor, and producer who has been creating videos and media content for college courses for more than 20 years. She has collaborated with leading researchers and educators and led the development of a wide array of groundbreaking products for higher education. Jessica’s approach is grounded in her own experiences in the field working in nursing homes and teaching theater to school children, as well as raising four children.
