Returning Your Macmillan Rentals
My school is closed due to COVID-19 and I don't have access to my rental textbook or device to make my return.
If you have rented a textbook or device from Macmillan Learning's Student Store this semester, we encourage students to return their rentals by the due date. However, we understand that there may be circumstances that prevent you from returning items by their due date, or that you don’t have access to your books and materials. If you are in need of a rental extension, you have until April 15, 2020 to submit a request using this form.
How do I return my rental textbook to Macmillan?
- You can find our Return Policy on the Support Community. To return a rental Macmillan textbook, log into the Student Store and click on My Account. Click here for directions on returning more than one item.
- Click on “See Details” for the rental order you want to return. You’ll see the date that your rental is due. If you’ve rented from Macmillan, you are responsible for returning the textbook by this date to avoid incurring additional fees.
- Print your packing slip. You can find a button that allows you to print your packing slip in your order details. We need the packing slip to process your return, so include it with the package with your rental textbook.
- Return the textbook to our warehouse using USPS or another shipping method (or for rentals, the prepaid label provided).

How do I return my rental e-book or digital product, and what is the access period?
Refund requests for digital products must be submitted via the My Account page within 14 calendar days and access to the product will no longer be available immediately upon initiating a refund request.
Macmillan offers 6-month subscriptions for e-books as well as the option to purchase for unlimited access. The order history for your e-book will tell you how much longer you have access; once the date has passed, you will no longer have access.
How do I return my rental iClicker or iOlab?
Macmillan offers several rental durations for iClicker. If you rent from us, you should return by the due date to avoid late fees. The return process is the same as for physical textbooks.
Can I buy my rental instead of returning it?
If at any time you decide you’d like to keep your rental, go to your Macmillan Learning Student Store account and choose your rental order. Choose the "Buyout" option and add to cart. You will be charged the full price of the book at the time of your rental, minus the rental fee you've already paid.
What if I don’t return my rental by the due date?
Extended rental due date and late fee
If you haven’t returned your rental by the due date, your due date will be automatically extended by 15 calendar days (“extended due date”) and you will be charged an additional late fee of 15% of full list price (i.e., not the rental price) for the product listed on our site at the time of the rental.
Charge for rental textbooks that are not returned
At the end of the extended due date term, if you haven’t returned your rental you will be charged the full list price for the product listed on our site at the time of the rental, but will deduct the rental fee and late fee already charged.
What is your rental return policy?
You can return any item(s) rented for a refund of the rental price we received (excluding shipping fees), if we receive your refund request via your Macmillan Learning My Account Page within 21 calendar days of your rental and we receive your returned product within 30 calendar days of rental in the same condition as we provided it to you. If you are eligible for a product refund based on the foregoing, we will credit the credit card that we charged for the rental for the refund amount.
If you request a refund and return a rented product that is damaged beyond normal wear and tear, to the extent that we cannot re-use the product in our reasonable discretion, and we did not send it to you in this condition, e.g., it contains an unusually large amount of writing, highlighting, rips or tears, or missing pages, you will be assessed a 30% damage fee (which fee is a genuine estimate of the anticipated or actual damages that might arise from your damage to the product and our inability to re-use the product) of the full list price (i.e., not the rental price) for the product listed on our site at the time of the rental, which will be deducted from your credit card refund.
What if I didn’t receive my delivery?
If you did not receive your Student Store Order, first review the tracking information provided to you in your Shipping Confirmation email. If you wish to request a refund for an order that has been confirmed as undelivered, you may do so by contacting Customer Support within 21 days of the purchase date. Requests made after this time will not be eligible for a refund or replacement and rental orders will still be subject for return at the end of the rental period.
