Authors

Gary W. Lewandowski, Jr.

Gary W. Lewandowski, Jr. grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia and went on to receive his B.A. from Millersville University of Pennsylvania and then his Ph.D. in Social/Health Psychology from Stony Brook University. Gary is a husband, father, dog-owner, professor and former chair in the Department of Psychology at Monmouth University, and author of Stronger Than You Think: The 10 Blind Spots That Undermine Your Relationship...and How to See Past Them. He has published over 50 academic articles and book chapters, and given over 120 conference presentations (most co-authored with undergraduates). Dr. Lewandowski's research, writing, and public speaking focus on the self and relationships. His research also examines ways to improve research methods and statistics instruction. He is a nationally recognized teacher who the Princeton Review recognized among its Best 300 Professors from an initial list of 42,000. He has also won Distinguished Teaching Awards at Stony Brook University and at Monmouth, and had his Intimate Relationships course featured in a USA Today article. He has given a TEDx talk, Break-ups Don't Have to Leave You Broken, which has over 2 million views. Currently, Dr. Lewandowski writes the Psychology of Relationships blog on Psychology Today. His expertise and articles (150+ of them) have appeared in mass media outlets such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, The Washington Post, CNN, APA Monitor, WebMD, and Scientific American, and have been enjoyed by over 5 million readers.


Kevin P. McIntyre

Kevin McIntyre earned a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology with a graduate minor in Research Methods and Statistics from Saint Louis University. He is currently a Professor of Psychology at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he primarily teaches courses in statistics and research methods, social psychology, and introductory psychology. He is the creator of OpenStatsLab.com, which is a resource for the teaching of statistics. McIntyre’s research focuses on how romantic relationships affect individuals’ perceptions of self and identity, and his research has been published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Self and Identity, and Personal Relationships. He co-edited a book entitled Interpersonal Relationships and the Self-Concept and his work has been supported by grants from the Association for Psychological Science and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. In addition to his teaching and research, McIntyre has worked as a statistical consultant on a variety of medical, educational, and psychological research projects. He has also served as a statistical consultant in legal proceedings involving professional sports teams, international technology firms, and financial investment services. McIntyre was born in Naperville, Illinois, where he developed a lifelong interest in rooting for sports teams that have very little chance of winning. He is an avid golfer who once shot an even par round of 72. He currently lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife, Michele, and daughter, Isla, who are the loves of his life.
